About the Malaysia Salary Calculator

The Zimyo Malaysia Salary Calculator turns a gross monthly salary into net pay — the amount that actually reaches your bank account. It deducts your EPF (KWSP) contribution, SOCSO (PERKESO) and EIS, and estimates your personal income tax using the resident scale, the standard reliefs and the RM400 rebate, or the flat 30% non-resident rate.

It also shows what your employer contributes on top of your salary, so HR teams and finance leaders can see the full cost of a hire in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru or anywhere else in Malaysia.

What Gets Deducted from a Malaysian Salary?

1. EPF (KWSP)

Retirement savings. Malaysian employees under 60 contribute 11% of monthly wages; employers add 13% (wages up to RM5,000) or 12% (above RM5,000). EPF is also charged on bonuses.

2. SOCSO (PERKESO)

Employment injury and invalidity cover. Employees pay about 0.5% of monthly wages up to the RM6,000 ceiling — at most RM29.75 a month.

3. EIS (SIP)

The Employment Insurance System, which supports workers who lose their jobs. Employees pay about 0.2% of wages up to RM6,000 — at most RM11.90 a month.

4. Income tax (PCB / MTD)

Your employer withholds income tax every month through Potongan Cukai Bulanan (PCB). It is based on your chargeable income: your annual income minus reliefs, taxed on the resident scale below.

Reliefs Used in This Calculator

  • Individual relief: RM9,000, automatic for every resident.

  • SOCSO and EIS: up to RM350 combined.
  • Non-working spouse: RM4,000.

How the Calculation Works

  1. Annual income is your monthly salary × 12, plus any bonus.
  2. EPF is charged on salary and bonus; SOCSO and EIS on monthly salary only, by PERKESO's wage bands up to RM6,000.
  3. Chargeable income is annual income minus your reliefs.
  4. Income tax is the resident scale applied to chargeable income, minus the RM400 rebate where it applies, minus zakat — or a flat 30% of income for non-residents.
  5. Net salary is income minus EPF, SOCSO, EIS and tax, shown per month (the annual figure ÷ 12).
